First Public Alpha (PCVR)

Razer Asteroid Miner has been getting a lot of love and energy in development whenever I can spare the time for a little over a year. For me, it really is like trying to bring an imaginative play story to life — literally enabling someone to climb into an cockpit I've imagined and jump into the action. Having started on PC for Rift, this demo build is the first alpha version. It includes one level, the beginnings of the story and the core features of collecting mined resources and upgrading your Razer mining vessel's capabilities.

In June, I began the porting RAM over to the Quest. Progress is going well, and I hope to have a build to publish soon for Quest players. I also found many optimizations in the process, which the PC version will be able to take advantage of.

On top of the 16 levels currently planned, there are so many more ideas hoping to be included and more ways I would like to bring the world to life. Thank you for checking it out and to those who have already started to show their support. I look forward to hearing your feedback and sharing more with you.

"What other technology today comes close? Maybe in future, future, future, future technology, you can step on a pad and think of something and it will come into existence for you. If only we could teleport food from the real world into VR.  I think the fist thing I would make is a cartoon monkey village." - son of Baron Vonbolt

The unzipped 'data' file needed a name change but still didn't work when I ran it?

I see the confusion. Please rename Razer Asteroid Miner.exe to RAM.exe and try again. Let me know if it still does not work.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I will re-upload the zip to fix.

Renaming the exe does not get this to work. It briefly starts (showing a black screen) but then stops with no message.

Hm. Do you have the Oculus software running when you start it?

I'm using a Quest2 and have tried both wireless via Virtual Desktop running Steam VR and link cable using Oculus software and neither works.

I see.  I tried to replicate that with the link cable on a Quest (1). (I had not previously tested this version via QuestLink mode). However, in my test, it did start up and run normally.

Have you experienced similar issues previously with other apps? I found an article, which may have some helpful troubleshooting suggestions:

Beyond these, I am actively working on a native Quest port, which will be available to check out soon.

same thing, i see a splash screen with a vonbolt logo and the game closes. Oculus quest 2, wired and vireless same result.
